CLED students conduct paralegal training on EJKs

LAST May 15-19, 2017, the students of the Clinical Legal Education (CLED) elective subject of the Ateneo Law School conducted a paralegal training on extrajudicial killings (EJKs) entitled “Let’s Tok.” Law students and college students were invited to learn about the concept of extrajudicial killings and the different remedies available to those whose relatives, neighbors, or friends were victims of EJKs.

Given the prevalence of these incidents, the Ateneo Legal Services Center (ALSC) sought to educate citizens on what can be done in case someone you know falls victim to such an operation. The training included a discussion on the Rules on Evidence, Criminal Procedure, and Prerogative Writs, and also had an open forum through which the students discussed issues relating to EJKs and how it can be addressed.

Another session will be conducted by the CLED students this June 2017 in a community affected by EJKs. For more information about the event, please contact the ALSC. P
