CEJA declares ALS Election Season 2019

The Commission on Elections and Judicial Appointments (CEJA) of the Ateneo Law School (ALS) will hold the regular elections for the Student Council (SC) on May 2, Thursday.

In compliance with the requirements and deadlines set by CEJA, a number of qualified and interested students submitted their respective Certificates of Candidacy (COC) last April 8 for the positions of President, Externals Vice President, Secretary-General, Treasurer, and Batch Representatives for the incoming second, third, and fourth year level. However, despite the extension for the Internals Vice President last April 12, no student filed for the said position.

Incumbent Internals Vice President Yen Rase will vie for the Presidency unopposed.

Carlos Recto, the current 1st Year Batch Representative, will now run for a national position as he competes against the newcomer junior, Reine Gustilo for the Secretary-General post.

Recently elected 2nd Year Batch Representative Marj de Castro will seek for re-election as the year-level representative of her batch as they move up to junior year for the next academic year.

Newcomers Frances Siapno and Alyssa Siycha also applied for national positions as they wish to be elected as the next External Vice President and Treasurer, respectively.

To complete the line-up, junior Dom Castro filed his COC for the 4th Year Batch Representative position.

While freshmen Shik Castillo and Sean Ajihil go head-to-head to earn their batchmates’ trust to secure the 2nd Year Batch Representative post.

The campaign period started by noon time last Monday, April 15. The much-anticipated Miting de Avance will held be on April 25, just a week before the scheduled election day.
