THE Supreme Court released the 2016 Bar Examination Results today, May 3, 2017, with Ateneo Law School achieving a 97.36% over-all passing rate or 221 passers out of 227 bar takers, and a 99.44% passing rate or 177 passers out of 178 first-time takers.
Karen Mae L. Calam, of the University of San Carlos, topped the Bar with a rating of 89.05%. The topnotchers of this year’s Bar Examinations came from the following schools: University of San Carlos (1st, 3rd, 7th and 8th), Silliman University (2nd, 9th and 10th), Andres Bonifacio College (3rd), University of San Agustin (4th), Ateneo de Davao University (5th), Northwestern University (6th), and University of Batangas (9th).
The national passing rate at 59.06% or 3,747 examinees passing out of 6,344 bar-takers, is the highest national passing percentage in at least 16 years according to the comparative statistics on the Bar Examination Results released by the Office of the Bar Confidant today. The average national passing rate from 2000 to 2016 now stands at 26.32%. The lowest national passing rate in the same period was in the year 2012, at only 17.76%.
