What do you think is the main problem that the law school community is facing now and how would you address it?
The academic calendar shift is bringing so many changes for the Ateneo Law community. The smooth transition to the new academic calendar is where the difficulty lies. Constant dialogue between the administration and the student body is essential in addressing this transitional phase. At the same time, there should be better methods involving information dissemination, registration, and academic support.
On an academic standpoint, the seniors should also have a revised bar review schedule since the projected graduation date will be in June and the Bar Exams will start in November. Somehow the months for Bar Review will be lessened as compared to the usual schedule (March graduation and October Bar exam schedule). And given that the Bar Exams will take place during the semester, not while on semestral break as we are accustomed to, there should also be a method in getting more volunteers for Ateneo Central Bar Operations.
What is one idea that you would like the student council to implement next year?
The Student Council and COAL should strengthen its ties with Ateneo Central Bar Ops since the Bar Exams will take place during the semester. If organizations are tasked to help out in the bar operations, then it would already serve as a great help as we try to tap more members from the student body. And at the end of the day, as one community, we join our barristers in solidarity as we aim for them to succeed.
How will your projects adjust to next school year’s calendar shift?
Planning should start as early as possible as regards the projects concerning the academics of the seniors. The batch should be able to brainstorm on how to have more Ateneo Central bar ops volunteers and improvements for the Bar Review Program for the shortened June-October review months. The academic calendar shift would not directly affect the other projects for the seniors such as the yearbook, blue roast, batch jacket though.
